In line with the policies of the Research and Technology Vice-Chancellor of the University in the field of providing the information resources needed by the academic community, the university libraries are proud to be one of the important links and bridge between users and information sources, to provide a suitable platform so that the users of the University of Medical Sciences can access to scientific sources at any time and any place to meet their information needs.

Based on this, this guide has been prepared to introduce library services and ways of access for respected members of the academic staff, researchers, students, assistants and other members of the university community.

Our services in the libraries of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences are semi-centralized and centered on the headquarters of the university libraries as a policy maker and provided by the libraries of faculties and medical training centers.

Library users

All academics, including students, faculty members, employees and personnel of the human resources plan in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, are potential members of the university libraries and can use all the facilities of the university libraries by visiting any of the libraries.

Attention:

At the beginning of each academic year, the profile of new students is activated automatically with username: student number and password: ID number. Based on this, there is no need to visit in person to become a member of the university libraries.
Only respected members of the academic faculty, researchers, employees and personnel of the university's human resources plan should refer to the relevant library by presenting a copy of the employment decision.

 

University Library Affairs Headquarters

This headquarters is under the management of information and dissemination of scientific resources of the university. Among the duties of the headquarters according to the resolution of the 7th session of the policy making council of the university libraries dated 7/12/1994 are as follows:

Implementation of periodical evaluation and continuous monitoring of the proper functioning of university libraries
Needs evaluation of electronic resources needed by the university
Subscription of electronic collections
Organizing specialized training workshops for users and university librarians
Compilation, review and updating of regulations and executive instructions of libraries and the plan for approval in the policy making council of libraries.
Communication and coordination between the Ministry of Health and the university in library affairs
Holding meetings and following up the approvals of the library policy making council
Continuous monitoring and control of access to information databases
Management of the server and clients of library software
  Management and updating of the website of the collection of libraries and information centers of the university
  Coordination and communication between university libraries and member libraries of Isfahan inter-library loan project

Activities of the Library Affairs Headquarters

Complete familiarity with the functions and goals of the library and constant study in matters related to books and librarianship in order to advance the goals of the library.
Review and evaluation of the current and future programs proposed by the library
Forecasting and adjusting the annual budget needed by libraries to fulfill the plans
Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of library staff activities
Determining the description of the duties of all employees of the central library and the division of duties between them
Receiving continuous work reports from affiliated libraries
Participating in meetings, making decisions and planning
Determining different priorities between libraries and conducting correspondence
Supervision of library research projects
Interviewing job candidates for suitable jobs in libraries
Suggestions about incentives, promotions, etc. for employees and any kind of related matters
Examining the personnel and equipment needs of libraries and proposing it to the research assistant
Empowering librarians with the aim of specializing library departments and optimizing the quality of services
Cooperation with scientific and cultural assemblies and centers of universities and educational and research institutes inside and outside
Establishing and maintaining relationships with sellers, publishers and brokers
Close cooperation with the financial unit of the Research Vice-Chancellor and the University, in order to provide invoices, payments and settlement of accounts.
Establishing communication and monitoring inter-library relations (inter-library trust)
Strengthening subscription purchases
Planning and controlling the implementation of the exchange, donation and doing all the things related to the donated resources, including receiving from the centers and individuals and the relevant reviews, which should be sent to other centers if they do not fit with the collection or are repetitive.
Proposing order and provision of materials and equipment for university libraries
Examining and introducing useful scientific databases or introduced by companies active in this field
Provision and strengthening of the most appropriate scientific and informational databases in the required fields of research and education of the university
Notifying the trial and permanent access of the databases through automation and email and receiving feedback and comments from users, also handling and solving problems.
Comprehensive examination of the databases, receiving the opinions of specialists and professors outside the university related to this field, finalizing the cooperation and concluding a contract if necessary;
Creation, completion and introduction of the library's electronic book repository;
  Providing quick and convenient access to information resources for faculty members, students and university staff in order to support current and future education and research.
  Providing and preparing new versions of comprehensive library software and editing it in order to standardize library services.
  Holding policy-making council meetings of university libraries, and other meetings with university officials if necessary
Also, this headquarters is responsible for planning, managing, setting up and monitoring new specialized areas in university libraries.

 

Setting up of information centers approved by the fifth meeting of the policy making council of university libraries, dated 6/8/94, (Appendix 2)
Digitization of single-copy printed resources (theses and research projects) to provide online services to users;
Among the other services of this unit is the provision of information dissemination services and includes the following activities:

Providing information about digital resources, including Trail, Access Open databases, etc., using available facilities, including email, social networks
Preparation of guides and educational packages from library services, electronic resources and databases
Holding educational workshops on the use of databases
Organizing various educational workshops needed by library users
Organizing training courses and scientific meetings to empower librarians of university libraries
